Doctor Strange was the next installment in the Marvel Universe movies. The film, directed by Scott Derrickson, was released on November 4, 2016 and features Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. The film focuses on Doctor Strange’s story of origin.

Doctor Strange is a well known surgeon who suffers a car accident, which causes his hands to be damaged beyond repair. The many attempts to fix them with medicine leaves no other surgeon wanting to risk t

heir name and he eventually goes broke.  He finally decides to go look for the “Ancient One”, played by Tilda Swinton. After struggling to learn how to use magic, he gets the choice of going back to his old life or to continue on the path he’s on to protect the world.

The best part of the film was the Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) and visuals. They showcased the magic very well, as if there were collapsing buildings and going into the Mirror Dimension. There

was also a little controversy about the movie because of the casting choices, many were upset of the choice of using Swinton instead of an Asian actor for the Ancient One. Swinton has addressed this issue in an interview before the movie was

released. She stated, “I believe in Marvel’s wholehearted commitment to creating a diverse and vibrant universe, avoiding stereotype and cliché wherever possible in a determination to keep things fresh and lively.”

Overall the movie was good and even had the audience clapping after the movie was over.
